Explicit computations in number theory

 

Abstract: In this talk, we will explore the flow of ideas between theory and computations in number theory.In particular, how exploring and reinterpreting certain chaotic behaviors as random leads to algorithmic advances and new insights in arithmetic geometry. We will illustrate this with several examples, including single variable polynomials, abelian varieties, and K3 surfaces.
