Graduate Students
I am currently recruiting Ph.D students. Students with interests overlapping with my own have an (obvious) advantage, but the only necessary criteria are (1) a fundamental interest in and enthusiasm for evolutionary biology and (2) verifiable evidence of the willingness and ability to work hard and (as we say in the Old Country) Git R Done. If this sounds like you, please contact me by phone or email to inquire further. The University of Florida Department of Biology guarantees graduate students at least five years of support.
Undergraduate Students
The Baer lab runs on undergraduate labor. Brutally, cruelly exploited undergraduate labor. 🙂 No, seriously, the Baer lab is in constant need of self motivated, responsible, conscientious volunteers. Participation will provide practical experience in the exciting fields of evolutionary biology and population genetics, with opportunities for advancement to undergraduate research projects and/or honest paid employment. Please note that many Baer lab publications have undergraduate co-authors (refer to Publications).
