Text: Using and Understanding Mathematics (6th ed.) by Bennett and Briggs

You will also need a scientific calculator; graphing or phone calculators are NOT allowed.

This course is designed to serve non-science and non-business majors in fulfilling their Gordon Rule mathematics requirement.  This course demonstrates the beauty and utility of mathematics. Topics include: financial management, linear and exponential modeling, mathematics in the arts, voting and apportionment

Assessment:  Three tests plus a Final Exam (24 points each). Your best three tests/exam and best four of five worksheets (7 points each) will compose your final grade(NO MAKE-UPS). Alternate assessment will not be administered.

Attendance Policy:  Attendance is mandatory and will be checked several times during the semester. Please obtain any missed notes from another student.

Grade:  Adjustments made for recording errors only, within a week of the assessment, during office hours.
