Other editions may work too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Course Content and Objectives<\/strong><br><br>\nComplex numbers, analytic functions, Cauchy\u2013Riemann equations, harmonic functions, elementary functions, integration, Cauchy\u2013Goursat theorem, Cauchy integral formula, infinite series, residues and poles, conformal mapping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Objectives include mastery of the course content and writing clear, complete, and logical solutions of problems involving functions of a complex variable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Suggested Problems<\/strong><br><br>\nSelected problems from the text will be assigned on a daily basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Attendance and general participation<\/strong><br><br>\nThere will be 12 points for attendance and general participation. This includes (1) Showing up to class on time on a regular basis and attending the entire class. (2) Asking for clarification if you do not understand a concept or assignment. (3) Maintaining the appearance that you are paying attention in class. At the end of the semester you will have the opportunity to tell me what your general participation grade should be, based on these criteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Quizzes<\/strong><br><br>\nThere will be three 10-point quizzes during the last 15 minutes of class on the following days:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Quiz 1: Monday 8 September<\/li>\n<li>Quiz 2: Monday 6 October<\/li>\n<li>Quiz 3: Monday 10 November<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Makeup quizzes (documentation required) will be given during the time reserved for a final exam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Exams<\/strong><br><br>\nThere will be three 36-point exams on the following days:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Exam 1: Friday 19 September<\/li>\n<li>Exam 2: Friday 24 October<\/li>\n<li>Exam 3: Monday 1 December<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Makeup exams (documentation required) will be given during the time reserved for a final exam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Grading<\/strong><br><br>\nA course total will be computed by adding the exam and quiz scores (total 150).
