Course Description <\/dt>\n<\/h3>\n
\nThis course is designed as an introduction to elementary number theory and
\nits applications for Mathematics and Computer Science majors. This course
\nis theoretical in nature. Emphasis is placed on theory and proofs. We hope
\nto cover most of Chapters 1-5 of Strayer. As well we hope to cover some
\nadditional topics. The basic topics include the greatest common divisor,
\nthe fundamental theorem of arithmetic, arithmetic functions, multiplicative
\nfunctions, congruences, the Chinese remainder theorem, quadratic residues,
\nquadratic reciprocity and primitive roots. We hope to cover some material
\non cryptography.\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n
