Description and Goals
Explore the Habsburg Monarchy, a multi-ethnic, religiously diverse empire in the heart of Europe. Enjoy the arts and intrigue in its capitals: Vienna (home of Freud, Klimt, and Hitler) and Budapest, and Prague.
A model for the EU, the Monarchy contained the whole of six contemporary European states and parts of four others. The dynasty itself wad Catholic but the empire included Protestants, Orthodox Jews, and Muslims. Learn about conservative diplomacy, Metternich’s “European Balance of Power” and terrorism that killed a beautiful queen and ignited WWI.
