What We Do

Our research operates at the interface of social and counseling/clinical psychology. Our focus is on (a) understudied forms of prejudice and stereotyping and (b) factors that facilitate and those that hinder personal and organizational effectiveness. Understudied forms of bias often go unrecognized and therefore may have adverse impacts in society and in psychotherapy. Optimizing personal and organizational effectiveness holds enormous promise for enhancing life satisfaction and benefits to society.

Our Mission

Our mission has two major parts: (1) To produce psychological science that has an impact on scholarship, psychological practice, and society, (2) To develop students into creative, competent, and productive scholars and practitioners.

There is nothing more practical than a good theory. – Kurt Lewin (1959)
