Jen Ramos

Jen Ramos is a Lecturer at the ELI and serves as the Reading and Writing Coordinator.

She has a BA in biology from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts,  an MFA in English Creative Writing from the University of Iowa, and a Master of Arts in Education in ESOL from the University of Florida. Jen has been teaching English to non-native speakers for over twenty years.

Jen began her teaching career at the University of Iowa, where she taught rhetoric to college freshman. After that, she worked as a language instructor for several years in Venezuela, Spain, and Portugal. Upon returning to the US in 2005, she began teaching at the ELI as an adjunct instructor and was hired as a core faculty member in 2009. In 2015, Jen was awarded a 9-month Fulbright TEFL grant to work for the Ministry of Education in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Jen loves running, swimming, and hiking. Her other interests include foreign travel and travel writing.
