Biography
I am Laureline Polli, a swiss phd student in Mathematics at the University of Florida.
My main areas of interest are combinatorics and numerical analysis. I’m especially interested by elegant bijections between seemingly unrelated objects. I also enjoy programming, both to verify combinatorial ideas, and to implement numerical methods, which I always find very satisfying and powerful.
As a TA, I aim to create an environment where students feel comfortable participating, asking questions, and even challenging the answers. There are never too many questions. I like talking about math enough that you’ll probably get tired of asking before I get tired of answering. I do my best to be approachable and responsive, and am always open to feedback to help me improve!
Outside of mathematics I am a certified rifle shooting instructor (a national sport in Switzerland), and serve as the treasurer of my shooting club. I also enjoy reading, walking my Sheltie, and spending time with friends arguing about what we could do, instead of actually doing it.
