Develop skills in solving single equation ODEs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Textbook: Fundamentals of\u00a0 Differential Equations, 9th edition, Nagle, Saff, Snider (required). You must have good integration and differentiation skills.<br>\n<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003399\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-small\">Homework will be assigned\u00a0 in MyMathLab (Canvas) typically every week.\u00a0 It is expected that the homework will be assigned on Wednesday and will be due the next Wednesday.<br>\n<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003399\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-small\">Calculators that do not perform symbolic calculations are permitted\u00a0 during examinations but graphic calculators are not permitted. In general. you should not need a calculator on exams.<br>\n<\/span><\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Testing\u00a0 and\u00a0 Grading:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There will be three exams during the term and a final exam. However,\u00a0 only your three best scores will count towards your final grade. The final exam will be given on the date and at the time published on the front page and it will NOT be comprehensive. Each of the four exams will be worth 100 points maximum. As a consequence make-up exams will not be given. You are strongly encouraged to take all exams on time. <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">The exam drop is to be used in case of emergencies only.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>You will have four in class 30 minute quizzes during the semester but only three scores will count towards your final grade. As a consequence make-up quizzes will not be given. You are strongly encouraged to take all quizzes on time. <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">The quiz drop is to be used in case of emergencies only.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>You will have approximately 10 homework assignments which will be assigned in MyMathLab\u00a0 and computer graded. You may work on homework assignments together but make sure you understand what is going on because some homework problems will be given on exams. Two homework grades will be dropped from the total. <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">The homework\u00a0 drop is to be used in case of emergencies only.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Cutoffs for letter grades are decided based on jumps in the point total. <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">The final grades are assigned <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">on a curve<\/span>.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Approximate lower bounds for letter grades may be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A &#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230; 382 points or higher.<\/li>\n<li>B &#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230; 340 points or higher.<\/li>\n<li>C &#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230; 297 points or higher.<\/li>\n<li>D &#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230; 255 points or higher.<\/li>\n<li>E &#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230; below 255 points.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Special Accommodations:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Students requesting classroom accommodations or special arrangements during examinations must first register with the Disability Resource Center (352-392-8565,www.dso.ufl.edu\/drc). The DRC\u00a0 will provide documentation.\u00a0 The student must then present this documentation to\u00a0 instructor to meet the\u00a0 requesting accommodation. This should be done as early in the semester as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Academic Honesty:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Students are expected to know and follow the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dso.ufl.edu\/sccr\/process\/student-conduct-honor-code\/\">Code of Student Conduct. <\/a>In particular, students must refrain from cheating,<br>\nnot make their work available for cheating, give due credit and citation for any quoted work, and make only fair use of copyrighted materials and software. You are expected to write exams and complete computer projects on your own. The university has a policy on academic honesty, which may be found in the University of Florida Rules, 6C1-4, dealing with Student Affairs.
