\nI am an Associate Instructional Professor in the University of Florida Department of Mathematics.\nMy work focuses on undergraduate mathematics education, particularly the intersection of\nmathematics, computation, programming, and emerging technology<\/strong>.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nI develop and teach courses that ask students to move between mathematical theory and computation:\nunderstanding why a method works, implementing it, testing it, and communicating the result.\nMy teaching makes extensive use of Python, open-source resources, interactive computation,\nand the careful use of artificial intelligence as a learning tool.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teaching & Curriculum Development<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\nA major part of my work at UF has been developing and redesigning undergraduate mathematics courses.\nI created MAD 2502 \u2014 Computational Mathematics with Python<\/strong>, which grew from a\npilot course into a regular UF offering, and I have continued to revise it as Python, data science,\nand generative AI have changed computational mathematics.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nI have also extensively redesigned MAD 4401 \u2014 Introduction to Numerical Analysis<\/strong>,\nmoving the course from proprietary software to Python and open-source resources and developing a\nfully online version in collaboration with UF’s Center for Instructional Technology and Training.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Undergraduate Mentoring<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\nI mentor undergraduate students on projects that connect mathematics with computer science,\ndata science, and artificial intelligence. These have included senior design projects in CISE,\ncomputational course-development projects, and undergraduate research involving AI-driven\napplications.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nProjects I have advised have included AI-assisted programming tools, educational games,\ncomputer graphics and ray tracing, mobile applications, and AI-driven tools for improving\nstudent engagement at UF.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Service & University Governance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\nMy service spans both the Department of Mathematics and university-level shared governance.\nWithin Mathematics, I currently serve on the Teaching Methods Committee<\/strong>,\nUndergraduate Research\/Experiential Learning Committee<\/strong>, and\nTA Training<\/strong>, and I participate in faculty mentoring.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nAt the university level, I serve in the University of Florida Faculty Senate<\/strong>,\non the Research and Scholarship Council<\/strong>, and on the\nGeneral Education Committee<\/strong>. This work gives me the opportunity to contribute\nto university policy and curriculum beyond the mathematics classroom.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
