Text: Fundamentals of Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems, by Nagle, Saff, and Snider
Course Content
MAP 2302 is a 3 credit course which gives the basic knowledge necessary for understanding, applying, and solving differential equations of the most usual types (Chapters 2, 4, and 7 of the text, and parts of Chapters 5, 6 and 8). We will also spend time in the introductory Chapter 1, and consider examples in Chapter 3.
Topics covered include: first order methods (separability, exactness, integrating factors, first order linear equations, Bernoulli equations); higher order constant coefficient equations (including particular solutions and general solutions via undetermined coefficients); and linear systems, Laplace transform methods, and power series solutions. Applications to physical problems will be included at various points in the course.
