MAC 3474: Scores and Grades

Class of 2026

Placement test: The maximal number of points is 22. Only correctly solved problems are counted. Partial credit was not counted because there was a natural passing threshold 8 in the scores to have a required section size. Partial credit could only be used in the case when there are too many students with the same passing score (not used this year). You can pick up your graded work in the class meeting on Monday, LIT 223, 4:05-4:55, or in LIT 205 right after 6 pm.
Review your placement test. Compare it with the posted solutions (in the course page). If you have questions, ask ASAP.

All students with the score 8 and higher will be transferred to MAC3474 in the afternoon on 08/24. The class will meet on MTWF9, LIT 223, starting Monday 08/24. The course can be demanding for students with a passing score in a low tail. However, in the past, many such students did very well in the class. If you do not wish to be in this section and stay in your regular Calc 3 section for any reason, you must tell so to the math undergraduate coordinator (Dr. Konstantina Christodoulopoulou) ASAP.

The placement test score will NOT be counted in the course grade and is used ONLY for the placement purpose.

Each test has a number of regular points. For example, T1/12 indicates that Test 1 has 12 regular points. You current grade is (M/N) times 100%, where M is the total number of earned points and N is the total number of regular points. The grade thresholds are in the syllabus.
