FRT 4500 – East West Encounters (Spring 2025)

T 4-R 4-5 (3 CR)

The class addresses new cultural identities in literature within a Franco-Asian perspective. We will cover a variety of texts (literary & new media) with a focus on the ‘east.’ The class is offered in English.  The reading list includes among others Marguerite Duras, Amélie Nothomb, Dai Sijie, François Cheng, Kim Thuy, and Marcelino Truong.  This class is in English with works in translation.
