Click on Zoom Conferences on the course&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/elearning.ufl.edu\">Canvas<\/a> page for the Zoom link to class meetings.<\/li>\n<li>Online Drills: On Thursday, students complete an online drill in <a href=\"https:\/\/elearning.ufl.edu\/\">Canvas<\/a> that is intended to help them review morphology and vocabulary.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #243778;font-family: ufshands, Arial, sans-serif;font-size: 1.8rem;font-weight: normal\">Class Description and Objectives<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GRE 1121 is the second half of the beginning ancient Greek sequence. Students will learn the basic vocabulary, morphology, grammar, and syntax of ancient Greek, and they will read adapted passages from ancient Greek authors. Upon completion of GRE 1121, students will be able to identify, explain, and analyze the basic elements of ancient Greek and read ancient Greek authors at the intermediate level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Required Texts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Cynthia W. Shelmerdine, <em>Introduction to Greek<\/em>, 2nd Edition (Newbury, MA: Focus Publishing, 2008). ISBN:\u00a01585101842. Students are required to purchase the\u00a0<strong>second edition<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Course Requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Attendance (20%). Attendance will be taken at class meetings. There will be a 50%\u00a0deduction for arriving late, leaving early, or being unprepared for class.<\/li>\n<li>Daily Homework\u00a0(20%). Please consult the course&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/elearning.ufl.edu\/\">Canvas page<\/a>\u00a0for the daily homework assignments. Students will be granted an extension on the daily homework only in the case of an excused absence (see <a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.ufl.edu\/ugrad\/current\/regulations\/info\/attendance.aspx\">UF Attendance Policies<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Weekly Online\u00a0Drills\u00a0(20%),\u00a0<strong>the lowest score is dropped<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tests\u00a0(30%): Test 1<span style=\"font-size: 13px\">\u00a0(100 points) on October 2,\u00a0<\/span>Test 2<span style=\"font-size: 13px\">\u00a0(100 points) on November 5, and\u00a0<\/span>Test 3<span style=\"font-size: 13px\">\u00a0(100 points) on December 9.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Ancient Greek Unlocked (10%). In consultation with Dr. Wolpert, students will create a project that provides them the opportunity to explore in depth an aspect of the ancient Greek language, and they will present their project to the class.
