Brief description:<\/strong> We will cover chapters 1 through 7. This includes among other things linear differential equations with constant coefficients, systems of differential equations, and the Laplace transform. Several sections of Chapter 3, 5, and 6 will be left out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Grading system: <\/strong>\u00a0There will be three in-class midterms and a final, all of the same weight. The exams are open book open notes. The first midterm covers Chapters 1 and 2, the second midterm covers Chapter 4, the third midterm covers Chapter 5, the final covers Chapter 7 (i.e. the final is not cumulative). The dates of the midterms are Feb 1, Mar 1, Mar 29, all Wednesdays; the final will take place on Thursday, April 27, 7:30–9:30am in LIT201 (the usual class meeting place). Homework will be assigned at the end of almost every lecture; these assignments will not be collected or graded. Attendance will not be taken. The total grade will be determined using a straight scale (i.e. A=94-100, A-=90–93 etc. )<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
