Brief description:<\/strong> We will cover roughly chapters 1 through 8. This includes among other things linear differential equations with constant coefficients, systems of differential equations, and the Laplace transform. We leave out Chapter 6 entirely and only the first couple of sections of Chapter 8 will be covered .<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Grading system: <\/strong>\u00a0There will be two in-class midterms and a final, all of the same weight. All of them are open notes exams. The first midterm covers Chapters 1, 2, and 3, the second midterm covers Chapters 4 and 5, and the final covers Chapters 7 and 8 (i.e. the final is not cumulative). The dates of the midterms are Sep 25 and Oct 30, both Wednesdays; the final will take place on Thursday, Dec. 12th, 10:00am–12:00 noon in LIT0127 (the usual class meeting place). Homework will be assigned at the end of almost every lecture; these assignments will not be collected or graded. Attendance will not be taken. The total grade will be determined using a straight scale (i.e. A=94-100, A-=90–93 etc. )<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Evaluations are typically open during the last two or three weeks of the semester, but students will be given specific times when they are open. Students requesting classroom accommodation must first register with the Dean of Students Office. The Dean of Students Office will provide documentation to the student who must then provide this documentation to the Instructor when requesting accommodation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
