Teaching

In my teaching I aim to first facilitate critical thinking skills, second to teach students to make use of textual evidence in order to support their thoughts and viewpoints, and third to encourage a successful collaborative learning environment for students. I believe that in teaching both the students and the teacher learn from each other.

I have previously taught at research institutions, private colleges, and community colleges in both Puerto Rico and the United States.  In Puerto Rico I taught at several universities including UPR-Bayamón and UPR-Carolina.  In the United States I have taught at Greenfield Community College (Massachusetts), Hampshire College (Massachusetts), Connecticut College, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst.  These teaching experiences have shaped my ability to teach both small and large classes, to mentor and advise, and to teach students who come from a variety of backgrounds.
