Areas of Interest/Research
My research focuses on answering questions related to adaptation, adaptive radiation, biodiversity, phylogeography, systematics, taxonomy and species delineation of various reptiles and amphibians. I approach answering these questions using integrative, statistical and comparative methods that often incorporate aspects of morphology, animal behavior, physiological ecology and molecular phylogenetic systematics. I have worked with many reptile and amphibian species; however, my work focuses primarily on snakes, which in general possess a broad array of unique and often extreme adaptations that make them important model organisms for studying various topics in evolutionary biology, development, physiology, ecology, and genomics.
