Andréa C. L. Ferreira is Lecturer of Portuguese and Undergraduate Coordinator in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies (UF), and Affiliate Faculty at the Center for Latin American Studies (UF). She also serves as director and instructor of the University of Florida Summer Study Abroad Program in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (UF in Rio). She has taught courses on Brazilian culture and civilization, mega-events, contemporary Latin American history, race and national identity in Brazil as well as introduction to the Portuguese language. She has developed and taught courses on Portuguese translation/interpretation and tourism in Brazil, and designed and supervised a student internship program with AcheiUSA – The Brazilian Newspaper. As a Brazilian citizen, a 2009 MALAS alumna, and a History PhD candidate, Andréa values interdisciplinary and transnational approaches to the study of Brazil and the Portuguese language.
