My research interests are in topology, geometry, and data analysis. More specific subfields of interest include applied topology, computational topology and geometry, combinatorial topology, metric geometry, machine learning, and sensor networks.
I am also very interested in teaching, freely-available online instruction, and how to make academia more welcoming, more open, more transparent, more accessible, and less intimidating.
At the University of Florida, I help run our Math Department Colloquium, and I attend our Topology Seminars.
I am the executive director of the Applied Algebraic Topology Research Network (AATRN), which hosts a weekly Online Seminar. Recordings of our seminar are available at the AATRN YouTube Channel, which has over 575 videos, over 7,400 YouTube subscribers, and about 20 hours watched per day. I also maintain a personal YouTube Channel.
I am an editor for the journals Foundations of Data Science and Experimental Mathematics.
In Spring 2025 I am teaching MTG 6347, Topology 2.
In Fall 2024 I taught MTG 6346, Topology 1.
In Spring 2024 I taught MTG 4303/5317, Introduction to Topology 2.
In Fall 2023 I taught MTG 4302/5316, Introduction to Topology 1.
