My research interests are in topology, geometry, and data analysis. More specific subfields of interest include applied topology, computational topology and geometry, combinatorial topology, metric geometry, machine learning, and sensor networks.
I am also very interested in teaching, freely-available online resources, and how to make academia more welcoming, more open, more transparent, more accessible, and less intimidating.
Please see my teaching, research, talks, and advising subpages.
I am the executive director of the Applied Algebraic Topology Research Network (AATRN), which hosts a weekly Online Seminar. Recordings of our seminar are available at the AATRN YouTube Channel, which has over 650 videos, over 9,100 YouTube subscribers, and about 16 hours watched per day. I also maintain a personal YouTube Channel.
At the University of Florida, I help run our Math Department Colloquium, and I attend our Topology Seminars.
I am an editor for the journals Homology, Homotopy and Applications, Experimental Mathematics, and Foundations of Data Science.
In Fall 2025 I am teaching MTG 7396, Topics in Topology I.
