Theory of real numbers, functions of one variable, sequences, limits, continuity and differentiation; continuity and differentiability of functions of several variables. Those who plan to do graduate work in mathematics should take MAA 4211. Credit will be given for, at most, one of MAA 4102, MAA 4211, or MAA 5104.

Prerequisite: (MAC 2313 or MAC 3474) and (MAS 4105 or MAS 3114) with minimum grades of C.

Homework

There will be 8 homeworks. The best 4 will count. Make sure to be a perfectionist, they will be graded harshly. The instructor will only grade some subset of the problems. You must turn in all the homeworks to pass the course, late homeworks will be counted but not graded.

Exams.

There is one midterm exam (October 15th) and one final exam.

Attendance

Attendance is required. Attendance will be taken at least 8 times. You must be present for at least 5 of these checks. This requirement may be waived in extenuating circumstances. Please get vaccinated.

Attendance 20%.

If you do better on the final than the midterm, it will replace your midterm grade. You must pass the final in order to pass the course.

You may receive bonus points for constructive class participation.
