CHAPTER XVII

As we saw earlier, the author of the Nomocanon tricked us into discussing such absurdities, and now Malaxus is playing a similar trick. It is not worthwhile to disprove his arguments. We have said enough on other occasions and sufficiently debunked the errors of many Greeks who use the prayers of the faithful to free from the torments of hell the souls condemned to eternal fire. But now, as I have already said, I shall make no attempt at countering faulty opinions with logic and sound religious theory, since I am relating such opinions to Zacchias, who knows how to distinguish them out of brilliance and a long experience in the field. Rather, I shall leave any matters of this sort for others to examine.
