Program Overview:
Embark on a transformative academic journey through Morocco, a country that beautifully blends ancient traditions with modern innovation. This immersive 6-credit summer program will take place from May 15 to June 15, 2025, in two iconic cities—Marrakech and Tangier—with additional trips to the stunning Blue City of Chefchaouen and the coastal city of Essaouira. Students will gain hands-on experience in both academic and professional settings, complemented by rich cultural exploration.

Course Focus:
This program combines academic study with cultural immersion, offering students the opportunity to engage with Moroccan universities, research centers, businesses,  government organizations and more ..You will:

  • Engage with Universities and Research Centers – Visit top Moroccan universities and academic institutions, engaging with faculty and students to understand the educational system, research initiatives, and academic collaboration opportunities.
  • Explore Business and Innovation – Visit Moroccan businesses and entrepreneurial hubs to gain insights into the local economy, industry trends, and opportunities for cross-cultural collaboration.
  • Cultural and Heritage Exploration – Alongside academic visits, you will explore Morocco’s historic cities, museums, markets, and more.

Additional Cultural Trips:

  • Chefchaouen (The Blue City) – Take an unforgettable trip to Chefchaouen, the famous Blue City nestled in the Rif Mountains. Known for its striking blue-painted buildings, Chefchaouen offers a serene escape with its vibrant streets, picturesque landscapes, and rich history. You will have the opportunity to explore this unique city while learning about its role in Moroccan culture and tourism.
  • Essaouira (The Coastal City) – Visit Essaouira, a UNESCO World Heritage city known for its historical port, lively medina, and beautiful beaches. This coastal city is a perfect example of Morocco’s blend of Arab, Berber, and European influences. Students will visit the bustling fish market, explore the old city walls, and enjoy Essaouira’s stunning coastal views while learning about its role in Morocco’s cultural and economic development.

Eligibility:
This program is open to all students, regardless of major, and is particularly suitable for those interested in global studies, business, cultural heritage, and the Arab world. No prior knowledge of Arabic is required.

Credit Information:
Students will earn 6 academic credits upon successful completion of the program. The course will be taught in English and includes lectures, site visits, and group discussions.
