The St. Mary lab is broadly focused on evolutionary questions. Our primary focus is at the microevolutionary level and involves a strong ecological context. We use approaches ranging from field and laboratory experiments, field surveys, to mathematical and statistical modeling. Historically the lab has been focused on the behavioral ecology of reproductive life history. However, more recently it has diversified to include work in the areas of rapid evolutionary responses to environmental toxicants, the evolutionary aspects of cancer, as well as the nature and role of personality in animal populations, both captive and wild.
